Man is charged with manslaughter after ‘bingo-loving’ pensioner, 75, died in a burglary at home in London

A man has been charged with manslaughter after a pensioner died following a reported house burglary.

Jeffrey Rose, 45, was arrested on Friday – ten days after police were called to Finsbury Park, north London, at 9.20pm on August 21.

Responding to reports of a house burglary in Tollington Park, they found ‘wonderful, bingo-loving’ Rose Smith, 75, in need of help.

She was taken to hospital, where she sadly died the following day.

An 81–year–old man was also taken to hospital with injuries but was later discharged.

Rose, of Apsley Close, North Harrow, will appear at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday on charges of manslaughter
