Ex-Romanian footballer accused of stabbing journalist on behalf of Iran claims accomplice carried out knife attack

A former professional footballer accused of stabbing an Iranian journalist in London has blamed the knife attack on an accomplice.

Iran International journalist Pouria Zeraati was left bleeding in the street after he was stabbed three times in the leg  close to his home in Wimbledon, South London, on March 29, 2024.

Woolwich Crown Court was previously told the attack was ‘ordered by a third party acting on behalf of the Iranian state.’
