Tributes have been paid to a ‘beautiful soul’ who was killed in a suspected hit-and-run crash near Edinburgh Airport – as three people have been charged.

Linda Patterson, 58, died in the four-car crash on the A8 Glasgow Road near Newbridge, at 9.25am on Monday.

Ms Patterson was driving one of the vehicles which was involved in the crash. Tragically, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Four others were taken to hospital for treatment.

Police later described the crash as a ‘hit and run’ and said they were looking for three people who allegedly fled the scene.
