Andy Burnham fell silent on stage during his first Labour conference speech as Prime Minister today as he choked with emotion two weeks on from his father’s death.
During his keynote address, Mr Burnham briefly struggled to continue before he went on to speak about his late father’s passing.
The PM took an emotional pause towards the end of his speech, which led to a member of the audience shouting ‘go on Andy’.
This was followed by applause from Labour delegates, with Mr Burnham acknowledging the support by saying: ‘Thank you everyone.’
