The taxpayer-funded talk was part of a Project Unity training programme, a workshop aimed at tackling ‘myths and misinformation about Muslims’.
It was hosted by Abbas Najib, a former police officer and CEO of the Better Communities Bradford charity, who said that ‘Mother Mary wore a hijab’ as he taught council workers how the covering of the head was a shared tradition across faiths.
