An Algerian asylum seeker who spat on a security guard after robbing designer handbags from John Lewis has been jailed for two years and eight months.
Kheirddine Fatmi, 35, of Wood Green, shoved the guard and spat on his bare arm at the West End store in London on October 30.
Fatmi and four other masked men entered John Lewis and helped themselves to 13 Mulberry handbags and a keychain worth £12,800.
CCTV showed one of the men pushing past a security guard.
The gang were then caught on camera fleeing the scene, but Fatmi was ‘not fast enough’ and was caught after the robbery,
