Fresh boost for Nissan’s Sunderland factory: New Kicks model to be built at UK plant and secure thousands of jobs

Nissan is doubling down on its fight for its future in the UK and British jobs as it introduces a new hybrid model that will be built at its Sunderland plant.

The Nissan Kicks Hybrid is a new model for Europe that brings £170million of investment to the Japanese carmaker’s British production base in the North East.

The compact crossover, which is already on sale overseas, is the tenth Nissan model to be produced at Sunderland and will be manufactured alongside the Qashqai, Juke, new Leaf EV and the new electric Juke from next summer.
